Rehabilitation for carers and caregiving relatives

If you work and at the same time support or even care for a loved one on a daily basis, this can take a toll on your body and mind. It may be difficult to find a healthy balance between supporting the person in need of care, your work and your social life.

At the Reha-Zentrum Bad Schallerbach, a facility run by the pension insurance institution, you can take advantage of the 4-week coordinated RehaJET® programme. This is a pilot project that has so far only been implemented in this facility. The programme is designed to help you maintain long-term participation in both professional and social life, despite the demands of caregiving. You can attend the programme either on your own or together with the person in need of care, provided that certain admission criteria are met. During your stay, the rehabilitation centre will take care of all necessary support and assistance while you follow your individually tailored therapy plan.

The following points apply as admission criteria for family caregivers:

• You must be insured with the pension insurance institution
• The person requiring care must receive care allowance
• The extent of your caregiving burden is determined through a structured assessment. Admission requires a medium to high level of strain.

If the person in need of care cannot be cared for at home during their rehabilitation, the rehabilitation centre will take over their care and support.

However, no care allowance is paid for the period of rehabilitation.
