Psychosocial stress often goes undetected. Many children and young people have to cope with a mental health problem such as ADHD, ADD, an anxiety, behavioural or eating disorder.
Although therapy can be beneficial in many cases, children and young people may not have access to this type of support – whether due to missing a diagnosis, high costs or fear of stigma. At the same time, many children and young people are confronted with special challenges in their young lives that can be very emotionally stressful. A chronic illness, disability, social inequality or restrictions caused by the pandemic – all of these and many other factors can have a major impact on psychosocial health.
Help for children and young people in crisis
To ensure that children and young people affected by the COVID-19 crisis receive appropriate psychological support, the initiative Gesund aus der Krise provides access to a new hotline. This hotline is available to children and young people up to the age of 22. By calling, you will be connected to a counselling centre, which will help you search for a therapy place as well as with the reimbursement of costs.
