Visiting and assistance services bring variety into the everyday lives of elderly and care-dependent people who may be experiencing loneliness. They may also take on various tasks.
Visiting services are there to meet the social and emotional needs of older people, particularly those who live alone. At agreed times, staff members come to your home to provide company – they listen, talk, and take time for you. Together, you might play games, sing, or do memory and coordination exercises to help keep your mind active.
They can also support you with small everyday tasks and accompany you on walks or shared activities.
If you find it difficult to go to the doctor or run errands on your own, an assistance service can help you. If you are no longer able to leave your home even with help, an assistance service can provide support with specific tasks.
For example, they can handle trips to the bank, pick up medications from the pharmacy, or do your shopping.
The funding for visiting and assistance services varies between the federal provinces. In some cases, these services are even free of charge. In Vienna, the Fonds Soziales Wien (FWS) provides financial support.
Ask at the care department in your province for further information.
Visiting and assistance services are organised by different regional providers. Please note that the list of offers is not exhaustive.
