Eating too little or following a one-sided diet can lead to nutrient deficiencies, causing certain body functions to no longer work properly and increasing the risk of secondary diseases. In some situations, it may be important to regain weight, while in others, nutritional therapy can help reduce excess weight.

If you take advantage of nutritional advice during an approved stay in a medical treatment facility or in hospital, it is free of charge. Many other services can also be used free of charge through your health insurance. Services that involve a fee may be fully or partially covered by your insurance under certain conditions. In most cases, you will need a referral from your general practitioner for nutritional or dietary counselling. You can ask your social insurance provider or family doctor for more information. Consultations with independent dietitians usually have to be paid for privately.
