They can carry out initial examinations and then refer you to a specialist in neurology or psychiatry. The referral is valid for one month from the date of issue. In principle, you can also see a specialist without a referral. However, they may not have access to any of your medical information. This is why a referral can be useful.
You will not have to pay to see a contracted doctor. If you see an elective doctor, you will have to pay the fees yourself. Depending on your health insurance, you may be reimbursed for part of the cost. It is advisable to check the fees with the specialist beforehand; sometimes prices are also available online.
