There are various advice centres for people with disabilities. Below you will find information, contact details, and links for advice on a range of topics.
The Sozialministeriumservice, with its nine regional offices, is an authority of the Federal Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection. It is the central point of contact for people with disabilities. It also serves as a point of contact for their relatives and for companies that already employ people with disabilities or are considering doing so in the future. The central task of the Sozialministeriumservice is to promote the professional participation of people with disabilities, with a particular focus on facilitating employment opportunities. This task is carried out in collaboration with partner organisations in the federal provinces, such as the Public Employment Service, the provincial governments, and private organisations.
The contact details of the regional offices of the Sozialministeriumservice can be found on the following page:
The matters of people with disabilities touch on many different areas of life in Austria. Therefore, in addition to the special responsibilities of the federal government and the social insurance institutions, the federal provinces also play an important role. Their aim is to help people with disabilities to live as independently as possible as part of the community. "Disability assistance" measures are implemented by the provincial governments and district authorities or municipal authorities, with benefits requiring an application at the relevant authority. Provincial laws may differ considerably. You can obtain more information from the contact persons in the respective social departments of the federal provinces:
