To support this aim, there is a strong effort to engage with the subject of dementia: for example by organising information events. Through these events, the general public learns more about how to interact with a person with dementia in the right way. Residents know how to assist someone with dementia who may no longer manage daily activities alone, enabling individuals to continue going shopping or taking walks independently.
In dementia-friendly municipalites, parks, public buildings and streets are built in such a way that people with dementia can find their way around more easily. At events, consideration is given to ensuring accessibility for people with dementia. In such communities, there are also volunteers who organise excursions for people with dementia or accompany them on walks.
