People with disabilities can take advantage of vocational training support. They can benefit from this offer until they finish their education if they are undertaking an extended apprenticeship or working towards a part qualification

In order to obtain an education qualification, people with disabilities can ...

• extend the education period by one year or, in exceptional cases, by up to two years = extended apprenticeship period (BAG § 8b para. 1).
• complete certain parts of an apprenticeship, which are specified in the apprenticeship contract. This is referred to as a part qualification (BAG § 8b Para. 2). Such an apprenticeship can take between one and three years.

There are various support options for students with disabilities to support them in completing their studies. Before starting your studies, it is advisable to contact the disability officer. Every university has a designated disability officer.

Vocational rehabilitation is designed to help people return to their previous profession or take up a new one. During training or retraining, you receive a transitional allowance for reintegration into the workforce, amounting to at least 50% of your previous salary. Support may also be provided in finding a new job if needed. In some cases, it is necessary to remove barriers in the workplace, and vocational rehabilitation can help with this.
