The Convention on the Rights of the Child came into force in Austria in 1992. In 2011, children's rights were incorporated into the Federal Constitutional Act on this basis. Probably the most important guiding principle according to which the law, the court, the administration and state and private institutions should act is: The best interests of the child must always come first.
