Palliative care, also known as hospice care, is an approach to improving the quality of life of people with life-threatening illnesses and their families. The aim of this holistic care and support is not to cure the patient at any cost, but to alleviate suffering and ensure the best possible quality of life. An interdisciplinary team takes care of the needs of those affected in order to achieve this goal.
Numerous palliative care services for Children and young people and Adults are available in Austria, ranging from palliative care units and mobile palliative teams to hospice facilities.
