Transportation services and parking
Across Austria, there are various forms of support for people who are temporarily or permanently restricted in their mobility. Travel and transportation to medical appointments or therapies are financially supported by health insurance providers. For more information on reimbursement of travel and transport costs, visit the respective websites of the ÖGK, BVAEB, or SVS.
There are various subsidies available for people with disabilities who are restricted in their mobility: For example, you may be eligible for financial support to help cover the cost of an assistance dog, a driving license or a vehicle. If it cannot reasonable be expected to use public transport or other specific needs arise, additional funding options may also be available.

Note: Many subsidies are based on the Disability Identity Card. This is an ID card for people with mobility impairments and grant access to various benefits.
If the pass includes the designation “Unreasonableness of using public transport due to permanent mobility restriction caused by a disability” you may, for example, be eligible for the following benefits:
- Exemption from motor-related insurance tax
- Exemption from parking fees
- Free motorway vignette

Support services in the federal provinces
In addition, the federal provinces offer various forms of mobility support. These are regulated under disability assistance, equal opportunities, or participation legislation.
As these offers vary between provinces, we recommend that you contact the relevant office of your provincial government. Please contact the relevant social services department in your federal province;
