People with disabilities can take advantage of vocational training assistance. They can take advantage of this offer until the end of their education if they are doing an extended education or partial qualification.

In order to obtain an education qualification, people with disabilities can ...

• extend the education period by one year or, in exceptional cases, by up to two years = extended education (BAG § 8b para. 1).
• complete certain parts of an education, which are specified in the training contract, in a so-called partial qualification (BAG § 8b Para. 2). The duration of such training can be between one and three years.

There are various support options for students with disabilities so that they can complete their studies. Before starting your studies, it is best to contact the Disability Officer. There is such a person at every university.

Vocational rehabilitation is intended to help people find their way back into their profession or take up a new profession. During training or retraining, you will receive a transitional allowance for reintegration into the world of work, which amounts to at least 50% of your previous salary. If necessary, you will receive support in finding a new job, for example. Sometimes it is also necessary to remove barriers in the workplace. Vocational rehabilitation also helps with this.
